Canadian Aviation Scholarships

The Rob Robichaud Vantage Airport Group Scholarship in Aviation was launched today by Vantage Airport Group, which oversees operations at both Lynden Pindling International Airport and Greater Moncton Roméo LeBlanc International Airport.

The new scholarship provides CAD 9,000 to a foreign student who wishes to enrol at Mount Allison University in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada and begin the Bachelor of Science (Aviation) Program, a distinctive undergraduate program that combines a degree with pilot training.

Bernard LeBlanc, President and CEO of the airport, said, “On behalf of Greater Moncton Roméo LeBlanc International Airport and Vantage Airport Group, we are very delighted to introduce this scholarship and further invest in our community in honour of our prior CEO Rob Robichaud.” “By offering this scholarship, we are developing ties across Vantage’s global network, investing in our community, and providing a student with a chance for a Canadian learning experience.”

The Aviation Program at Mount Allison is provided in cooperation with Moncton Flight College. Only a handful of undergraduate degree programs in Canada, including the Bachelor of Science program, allow students to complete both flight and ground school training. At Mount Allison, students concentrate on aviation-related courses like geography, arithmetic, and physics. At the Moncton Flight College, they undergo ground school training. Finally, they complete more than 200 hours of flight training.

Additionally

Vernice Walkine, President & CEO of Nassau Airport Development Company, said, “This is the second education award established by Vantage and its network airports, and we are extremely delighted to help facilitate the educational path for students studying abroad.” “Aviation is a crucial industry for The Bahamas, and this is a fantastic chance for a local student to learn about it and discover the value of forging links abroad.”

This scholarship is based on the education award created by Vantage in Kamloops, British Columbia, with Thompson Rivers University (TRU), which was given to two Bahamian students in the past.

In memory of the late Edgar (Rob) Robichaud, former CEO of the Greater Moncton Roméo LeBlanc International Airport, retired RCAF lieutenant-colonel, well-known community leader, and former board member for a number of local organizations, the new Rob Robichaud Vantage Airport Group Scholarship in Aviation bears his name.

For the first time in 2018–2019, a full–time Bahamian student enrolled in or beginning the Bachelor of Science (Aviation) degree program is eligible to apply for the scholarship. Unless there are two equally ideal and eligible applicants, the scholarship will be given to one student per year at a value of $9,000, in which case two scholarships will be given at a value of $4,500 each.
